scarecrows, Children's Village
If you have vegetables, you need scarecrows, especially at this time of the year, and so the Children's Village at the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens has its share of scarecrows.

I don't know whether they kept the crows away, but both children and adults came to admire them.

Children's Village dome, Cheyenne Botanic Gardens
The dome at the Children's Village (part of the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens) is beautiful at any time, but a bright blue sky and vibrantly colored flowers add to its appeal and make it a must-see.

Wednesday in Wyoming - December 12, 2018

One time when I was at Walt Disney World, I overheard a young boy horrify his younger sister by whispering rather loudly, "There's more than one Mickey."

There may indeed be more than one Mickey at Disney World, but they're careful that you can see only one at a time. Not so at the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens' Children's Village. They're proud to present the Thousand Faces of Santa.

Are there really a thousand? I don't know, but as you can see, there are quite a few.

Wednesday in Wyoming -- December 20, 2017

Two weeks ago I showed you an elegant tree from the Historic Governors' Mansion. This one, part of the Paul Smith Children's Village's "Thousand Faces of Santa" display, may not be elegant, but there's no denying that it's fun. Where else would you find a tree decorated with nothing but Santas?

Merry Christmas! I wish you and your loved ones the most joyous of holidays as we celebrate the true reason for the season.

If "The 1,000 Faces of Santa" exhibit is at the Children's Village in Cheyenne, it's a sure sign that Christmas is approaching.  How many Santas can you count on this tree?

Wednesday in Wyoming -- December 4, 2013

Does this put you in the holiday spirit?  It certainly does for me.  Hot chocolate (with marshmallows, of course), Christmas lights and perhaps a little ice skating -- all those things tell me Christmas is coming.

What foods and other traditions do you use to mark the advent of Christmas?
