Did you know that although modern day Wyoming is a semi-arid state, it wasn't always that way? Literally thousands of years ago, the area was covered by inland seas. The proof is here in the various layers of rock that were deposited during those wet periods. If you look closely, you can actually count the layers ... if you have enough time, that is.
My dad used to tell me that when I was a kid and we'd go up fishing to Crystal or Granite Lake. I didn't think he knew what he was talking about. I was wrong!
ReplyDeleteCindy -- I was never a great fan of science classes, but I enjoyed Earth Science, so learning about things like this and seeing the effects of glaciers in places like Rocky Mountain National Park has always fascinated me.
